My life before WLS
Before surgery, I felt exhausted all the time. I felt ugly, unattractive and like a thin person trapped in a big person’s body.
One of my son’s friends at school told him one day, “Your mummy is really fat.”
The NHS let me down to the extent where I left the doctor’s room, went to the car and had a cry.
My Tonic experience
I rang Tonic up and they booked me in to see Simon Dexter 2 days later. The following Monday, I booked my surgery.
I chose Tonic because they were sincere and every time I spoke to them, they were normal people, who spoke on my level.
Once I got home from surgery, every day someone from Tonic rang me to make sure I was all right. Sometimes I’d get 3 calls a day, from the counsellor, dietitian and the team. The weight was coming off.
Life after surgery
