My life before WLS
Before surgery I weighed 152.5kg pre-surgery and my dress size was a 24-26.
I had been big my whole life and tried about every weight loss method on the market but nothing worked for me. I was trying to tell myself that I was ok with my weight but deep inside I was very unhappy, I felt invisible, and deeply insecure. I remember constantly breaking out in sweat when walking up the stairs to the tube or just keeping up with my family on a normal Sunday stroll. Simple things like shaving my legs or tying my shoes were difficult as well.
My Tonic experience
I opted for the gastric sleeve surgery, my surgery took place at the Luton and Dunstable hospital with Dr. Al-Taan. From the moment of reaching out to Tonic to inquire about the surgery, up until now 2 years post-op, I have felt taken care of in an amazing way. The Tonic team really care about you as a human being and about you being successful on your weight loss journey. Everyone made me feel very safe and comfortable, all my questions were answered, and I went into the process as informed as I could be. The surgeon was wonderful and kind and the experience at the hospital was good too.
The Tonic aftercare team still check in with me once a month. I felt a bit unlike myself about a year after losing so much weight and Tonic offered for me to speak to one of their psychologists, which made a huge difference and helped me cope and understand my feelings.
