My life before WLS
The Summer of 2020 was breaking point for me, I was a size 24 and I was no longer able to live life to the full and in the way that I enjoyed. I had always been sporty and fit, but after having kids and living through some hard times, food had moved from being a comfort to addiction and I didn’t know how to break it. I had tried every diet, every ‘lifestyle’, I had counselling, but I was just getting bigger and bigger and my life was becoming more restricted. I couldn’t play sport, I couldn’t play with my kids and I lost a sense of me.
My Tonic experience
After doing some research I came across the idea of weight loss surgery and started looking at options. I spoke to several companies but found Tonic to be the most personal, quick to respond and eager to help. They set me up with a consultant to speak to and he explained everything really well. Once I had decided to go ahead with Tonic it was only 6 weeks later that I had a gastric sleeve. During the whole experience, I felt looked after and supported; I was picked up and taken to the hospital, I was delivered home, a nurse phoned me every day, I spoke to a dietician regularly. Everything was in place for me to succeed.
